Day 2
Breakfast offered a view of Lake Ellis while I converted with 2 nice ladies from Finland, Malla and Janna. The trek offered breathtaking views over the Gorges Valley. We left in the morning with lunch along the way to Mintos Camp at 4293m (14084m) arriving at around 1:30pm. Thanks to my time on Kilimanjaro last week, I didn't have any headache at camp. I even had the energy to check out the two nearby lakes and scrambled up some rocks for a view of the camp. Marmot Oscar stayed around and creeped on me as I took an early dinner around 5pm.
I thoroughly enjoyed the meals on the mountain. Breakfast consists of coffee or tea, porridge, eggs, sausage, taro, french toast or pancakes. Dinner consists of chapati, lentils, beef and a fresh fruit - mango, oranges, pineapple, or passion fruit.
Unlike Kilimanjaro, Mt Kenya is not as trafficked and I hardly spotted any trash (plastic or toilet paper) on the trail.
